The logo of
Healthy Communities Initiative (HCI) symbolizes the very essence
of the word "community," and the ownership by its citizens who
are committed to a collaborative vision of a healthy
environment for current and future generations. The logo suggests
that our community is composed of numerous diverse individuals
and groups. As a community, they unite, forming a focused and
purposeful whole.
HISTORY
The healthy
communities concept began in the late 80's and early 90s, and
has been sweeping across the country ever since. Many communities
are taking an objective look at themselves, and assessing what
they need to do to become "healthier." This means evaluating specific
quality of life issues such as: economic, education, neighborhoods,
health, environment, housing, transportation, government, etc.
